Idaho wild rice is a unique and delicious variety of rice that is grown in the wilds of Idaho. It has a nutty, earthy flavor and a slightly chewy texture, making it a favorite ingredient among chefs and food enthusiasts. Unlike cultivated rice varieties, which are grown in paddies or fields, Idaho wild rice grows naturally in shallow lakes and streams. In fact, wild rice was first introduced to Northern Idaho by duck hunters in the mid 1940s, to enhance waterfowl habitat in Benewah Lake, surrounding rivers and marshes. Today, wild rice continues to flourish.
