Homegrown By Heroes: an Idaho Preferred and the Farmer Veteran Coalition Collaboration

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) is thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new initiative: Homegrown by Heroes merged mark. In collaboration with the Farmer Veteran Coalition, this innovative trademark helps consumers to easily identify local foods and beverages, grown, raised, or produced by local Idaho military veterans.

With the Homegrown by Heroes merged mark, we have combined the symbols of the ISDA Idaho Preferred Program and the Farmer Veteran Coalition. This trademark proudly represents the agricultural products grown or processed by military veterans here in Idaho. By recognizing their remarkable contributions, we aim to bridge the gap between supporting our local agricultural businesses and honoring our brave veterans.

“The ISDA is excited to be partnering with the Farmer Veteran Coalition on this merged trademark,” said Chanel Tewalt, ISDA Director. “It is an honor to be able to offer this new opportunity to highlight the work of veterans who are growing and creating local products. This partnership is a win for all Idaho agriculture, veterans and consumers.”

The Homegrown By Heroes label (HBH) is the official farmer veteran branding program of America and is administered nationally by the Farmer Veteran Coalition. It certifies ranchers, farmers, and fisherman of all military eras to sell their product as veteran owned and produced. The label informs consumers that agricultural products donning the logo were produced by U.S. military veterans, and it allows veterans to differentiate their farm and ranch products in the marketplace.

We believe in the power of community, and the Homegrown by Heroes merged mark is our way of bringing consumers like you closer to the incredible stories behind our local agricultural products. Each purchase becomes an opportunity to honor our veterans and contribute to the growth of our state’s agricultural industry.
